Cortese Construction Celebrates Their 75th Anniversary
Reaching 75 years in business is no small achievement. For Cortese Construction Service Corp., this milestone represents decades of hard work, family values, and a deep commitment to customers. Since 1951, the company has grown from humble beginnings into one of Western New York’s most trusted names in home improvement.
A Dream Built from the Ground Up

The story of Cortese Construction begins with two brothers, Frank and Nick Cortese, who came to the United States in search of a better life. They started the company in the basement of their home, taking on small concrete jobs like driveways and garage floors.
They faced many challenges, including limited resources, a language barrier, and little knowledge of how business worked in their new country. However, they had something just as important: determination. Through hard work and a strong focus on quality, they slowly built a reputation that set them apart.
Over time, the company expanded beyond concrete work. The brothers began building apartments and taking on larger construction projects. Their attention to detail and commitment to doing the job right helped them grow steadily and earn the trust of homeowners throughout the region.
Growing Into a Remodeling and Sunroom Leader

As the years passed, the next generation stepped in to carry the business forward. Under the leadership of Domenic Cortese, the company expanded into full-service home remodeling and evolved into a leader in kitchen renovations, bathroom remodeling, home additions, and outdoor living spaces.
Through their partnership with Betterliving Sunrooms and Awnings, Cortese Construction has helped countless homeowners enjoy the outdoors with beautifully designed sunrooms, screen rooms, and shade products.
Betterliving Sunrooms change how people live in their homes. They create a bright, comfortable space to relax, entertain, or enjoy the outdoors without worrying about weather or insects.
A Family Tradition of Excellence
Now in its third generation, Cortese Construction remains a family-run business. Phil, Nick, and Michelle continue to play an active role in daily operations, from project management to design consulting.
The team takes pride in guiding homeowners through every step of the process, from the first idea to the final result. Whether it’s a small update or a major renovation, the goal is always the same: deliver quality work and make the experience as smooth as possible.
It’s this level of care that brings the company’s tagline to life. When customers choose Cortese, they’re not just improving their house, they’re creating a place where they can “Come home to Cortese!”

Awards & Recognition
Over the years, Cortese Construction has earned recognition for both its craftsmanship and its business practices. In 1997, the company received a national award from Better Homes and Gardens for both a kitchen and bathroom project in the same home, an impressive achievement that highlighted their design and construction expertise.
They have also been recognized for their commitment to ethical business practices, including a Buffalo Niagara Business Ethics Award, and for their excellence in the design and installation of sunrooms by the National Sunroom Association.
Looking Ahead to the Future
While 75 years is a major milestone, Cortese Construction is not slowing down. The company continues to grow, embracing new technologies, design trends, and construction methods to better serve its customers.
At the same time, they remain true to the values that started it all: hard work, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. These values have guided the company for three generations and will continue to shape its future.
